New Delhi: An exchange of fire broke out between terrorists and security personnel at a hospital in Srinagar today. After the incident, the security forces surrounded the terrorists but the terrorists managed to escape. A large number of security personnel have reached the spot. Srinagar Police tweeted, 'There was a brief exchange of fire between terrorists and security forces at SKIMS Hospital. Taking advantage of the presence of people, the terrorists managed to escape. It is also said, that a person has been taken to the hospital due to injury.
Initially, the police had called it an incident of accidental firing. According to sources, the medical college and hostels have been cordoned off.
This is the first major terrorist attack in the Kashmir Valley after the incidents of targeting of migrant workers and minorities. An additional 50 team of security forces have been deployed in Srinagar due to the attacks.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently visited Srinagar. This was his first visit to Srinagar after the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.
