Jammu and Kashmir: People paid tribute to the martyr army soldier in Awantipora encounter

In fact, on February 28, security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the Padgampur area of Pulwama after receiving information that two heavily armed terrorists were hiding in a mosque.

New Delhi: People today took out a candle march to pay homage to the Indian Army jawan who was martyred in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Awantipora by killing terrorists and trying to save the mosque from any damage. During this, people were carrying the picture of martyr Pawan Kumar in their hands and were raising slogans of martyr Pawan Kumar Amar Rahe.


Let go, didn't let the mosque get damaged

In fact, on February 28, security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the Padgampur area of Pulwama after receiving information that two heavily armed terrorists were hiding in a mosque. With two local terrorists holed up in a mosque, the security forces exercised utmost restraint and tried not to cause any damage to the mosque. Pawan Kumar, a soldier of 55 Rashtriya Rifles, was martyred during this encounter.


Both terrorists killed in encounter

One of the slain terrorists has been identified as Aqib Mushtaq, who was killed in the mosque premises. The second terrorist, identified as Ejaz Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Taral near Pulwama, had jumped from a window and hid in a house near the mosque. He was also shot dead by the security personnel. The terrorists killed in the encounter were involved in the murder of bank security guard Sanjay Sharma
