Due to this cyclonic storm moving towards the coast of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh at a speed of 12 kilometers per hour from the Bay of Bengal, a surge in sea waves is being seen.
New Delhi: Cyclonic storm Mandus will hit the Andhra Pradesh coast between Sriharikota and Puducherry after midnight today. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rain. According to the Meteorological Department, the intensity of Mandus storm will decrease while hitting the coast at midnight today. There is a possibility that this storm will hit the coast in Mahabalipuram near Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu. Due to this cyclonic storm moving towards the coast of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh at a speed of 12 kilometres per hour from the Bay of Bengal, a surge in sea waves is being seen.
However, even before hitting the coast, this storm has started showing its effect. A fisherman's house has been washed away by the sea waves in the Pillaichavadi area of Puducherry. Similarly, in the Vizhipuram area of Tamil Nadu, 10 houses built just adjacent to the beach have been damaged. High tide is being seen in the sea in Mahabalipuram.
In view of this storm, 6 companies of NDRF have been deployed as a precaution. These NDRF teams have been deployed in Chennai, Mahabalipuram, Cuddalore, Nagapattinam, Vizhipuram and Puducherry. Apart from this, a large team of SDRF, Fire Department and Police have been deployed as a precautionary measure.
After hitting the coast of this cyclonic storm, red alert has been issued in Chengalpet, Kancheepuram and Vizhipuram while orange alert for rain has been issued in 9 districts of Tamil Nadu including Chennai and yellow alert for rain has been issued in 16 districts. Tamil Nadu in 28 districts A holiday has been declared for schools and colleges. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M S Stalin is continuously monitoring the situation from Chennai.
