Controversy over changing the name of AIIMS, Faculty said - doing so will erase the identity

Doctors have unanimously opposed the government's proposal to change the name of AIIMS.

New Delhi: All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS), which is known for its doctors, cheap treatment and reliable hospital in India, should its name be changed? AIIMS doctors believe that this should not happen at all. The Faculty Association of AIIMS Doctors has written a letter seeking suggestions from the members as to what should be changed in the names of 23 AIIMS in the country.

Expressing clear objection to the proposal to change the name in the letter, it has also been said that when universities like Oxford-Cambridge across the world have not changed their names for centuries, then why should AIIMS be separated from its identity?

It has been written in the letter that this name is the identity of the institute and by changing the name, the identity of AIIMS in the country and the world will also be lost. The Faculty Association has asked the rest of the AIIMS members to give their opinion in two days so that they can take further steps.
